Big Brother Australia LAUNCH SHOW REVIEW
It has been four years since Big Brother was officially cancelled by Network Ten after a consistent slew of young, beefed up, boring housemates, show runner Gretel Killeen was replaced by the horrid Kyle & Jackie-O who drove the show into the ground and after a call from the prime minister to cancel it, Big Brother on Network Ten had seen its last day.
Now thanks to Channel Nine revamping the series with a host of new housemates, a new format and new host Sonia Kruger, Big Brother is back with a vengeance. A 90 minute introduction show was our first look into the new BB house, the blend of modern and retro is quite stunning and it felt like I was a kid and this was christmas.
Still being hosted by Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, the catwalk, the stage, the crowd, the housemates where all there in fine form, ready to enter the house and re-introduce the country to the wonderful world of Big Brother again.
The first housemate in is Michael, a 26 year old copyrighter from QLD. Hairy, unshaven, absolutely hilarious. Michael was sent in alone and had to wait around for the next male housemate to enter.
Next up was Sarah, a 30 something car sales person from NSW. She enters a “Parlour Room” where she can see Michael on the screen. She is then joined by Angie, Zoe and Layla who are surrounded by champagne and can see Michael walking around the house on a tv screen.
Enter Josh a 23 year old musician from SA. He joins Michael and both are now watched by the girls in the parlour room.
4 more housemates are added Charne, Estelle and Stacey to the parlour room and then Bradley another guy.
The big twist this year is secrets, every housemate has a secret and Big Brother gives the girl a mission, to find out the secrets that the boys are keeping without asking them directly.
4 more males will enter the house this week, including 2 tonight in a live special. The New BB format and host is not entirely unlike the old series, the housemates seem to have more character and depth than previous years.
Sonia Kruger did a great job hosting and I can’t wait to see how she progresses as the show goes on.
Big Brother is on at 7:30pm weeknights for regional and 7pm for capital cities
